When is Marshall releasing the GPS dog collar?

    Default Software

    It's all in the software.

Is this going to be a transmitter only or a working GPS collar with tone/vibe/stimulation?

I would assume it will be GPS only. MRT has no experience with training collars and the liability associated with that type of thing would make me think twice about getting involves so I don't think they would bother.

    Default Patent Problems

Sport Dog owns the patent on the idea of combining a location collar with a command collar. The other makers have to go around this by making a location collar that has a pocket in the collar for the command receiver (or vice versa). Not sure how broad the patent is. At any rate Marshall is probably constrained from making a tidy "all in one" unit.

I am not a big fan of "all in one" units of any type. Any idea how many of those televisions with built in DVD players there are out there with a broken DVD player? In this case if something happens with the training collar functionality it could suck the battery dry and you are left with no way to track your dog.

I'm going into my 3rd year with the garmin all in one collar, zero complaints, love the setup. I have enough crap to carry in the field, I don't need or want two collars on each dog.

    Marshall will be GPS only.
