    Default Hello from North Florida

Hello all, my name is Wes and I'm from Crawfordville, FL.

I've been interested in Falconry for a while but having been in the military for the last several years I didn't pursue it because of the uncertain nature of my day to day life. Constant deployments, being gone for long periods for training that kind of thing wasn't conducive to being involved in Falconry. Now that I'm out and settled down I look forward to attending some events, meeting people and generally learning more about the lifestyle to see if it's something I can make work.

Thank you for your service. You are welcome to come watch my birds fly, but I'm quite a way from Florida.

Good to meet you Wes. There are a fair number of falconers in Florida. Hopefully some of them will chime in here.

You guys are from my second home. I spent 8 years at the Mag Lab. I miss the Gulf a lot, especially the tarpon. I used to see wintering merlins at the sod farm on the truck route headed towards Wacissa and a peregrine or two along the coast during migration, St. Vincent and Crooked Island sound were hot spots. I dont know about hawking down there, I chose to fish instead. I suppose you can do fine chasing squirrels or maybe rabbits, maybe in some of the farm fields around you or the farm country up around Quincy.
