Default 2019 male tame hacked NA gos

2019 wild taken male gos here from my own state from one of the nests I found last year. Thought I'd post some pictures of imprinting him and tame hacking him. He was/is an open food association finger fed imprint going so far as to feed from my face via my fingers. Steve Layman was/is my mentor during the whole process. I will never imprint any other way. The zero paper cut hypothesis was/is relied on completely and fully integrated during every form of interaction as well as completely encompassing the natural history element.

He was pulled at around 6 days old is my guess. Obviously the first picture in the thread is of him much older.

During hack I watched him chase lots of squirrels some mice birds including doves and seagulls. Not a crazy bunch of chasing going on but enough to keep us both entertained.

If I remember right he was hacked until 60 or 63 days? He was not brought in at night. He found his own trees to sleep in and came back in the morning to eat and hang out. The amount of flying time that he did early morning and late evening was incredible especially the evening. He had more air time in the short period of the evenings late evenings than all combined time during the day I would say.

Fun stuff Isaac, love tame birds.

Im not aware of a means to host video through this forum system, so have to upload to YouTube or Vimeo and link accordingly.

Isaac that background looks like my parents neighborhood in Warren MI. I grew up near Michigan Ave, and Central Ave. 313 Near RR tracks.

Yes, it was an extremely urban hack. Not without risk. Neighbor kid decided it would be a good idea to shoot him with a pellet gun. Luckily, it only zinged a feather in blood and a chat with the kid...

That's what it is. I got the idea years ago from the IA falconer that made wind vanes. He used a dirt bike tire. I've used it now for a few years and it's pretty nice. Easy to clean. Healthy feet so far.

Thanks for sharing! The process of tame hacking has always fascinated me and it's nice to see what can be accomplished when done well. I definitely would like to try this some day.
