    Default Bob's

    Wanted:
Bob's for a pigeon trap. New one's are a little pricey. If you have a set laying around that are old and you want to get rid of them, PM or email me. I want to make a pigeon trap.

    Hi Ev,

Bobs are really pretty inexpensive, check Global for example:

    http://www.globalpigeon.com/gps.php?action=showcat&id=7

Individual bobs are only $0.55 and bob traps are less than $20. A "bob trap" is only a door and not a cage for trapping pigeons.

    Ev,
don't got the bob route if you're trying to trap them....i've found that the funnel traps work 10x better plus they're a little easier to make....

    EJ:
Are you taking about a trap like a sparrow trap, what size of funnel do you use. Do you have any photo's of one you could post?

exactly...just like a funnel trap for sparrows, crabs, etc...i cone shape the openings so that it progressively gets smaller....

the cage is about 3' x 2' w/ one funnel a pile of seed in the middle and a little trail leading out the funnel....funnel opening is about 5"...works great ev till i started doing the pigeon thing w/ the gos...i remade the funnel opening to about 3" for starlings and sparrows etc...

This looks like a 7x7 sq. with a 1x6 cute out of the center and bent in. But is it on a hing or does it hang loose.

    Default Door

    Ev

    yes just cut it out like you see it in the picture, the mainn advantage is ;

    there very cheap to make
also, unlike the bobs that need something on the bottum to stop them from swinging both ways, my doors get stopped by the resistance of the overlaping.
and there isnt anything for there feet to feel or have to step over to get into the cage,
i have trapped over 400 pigeons in the last 2 months and i set my fellow faloner up with these doors after we removed his bobs and he caught 86 in 1 week by setting traps on roofs of business

    good luck

    Vinnie:
I put a trap together yesterday with the opening you posted. I was looking around the net and see a trap with that design but the trap had six doors. If it works I will make a hole new trap and put more doors on each side. I will keep you posted. Wouldn't you know it, it warmed up and we now have more grassy areas.
