to NAFEX Ryan! I am not from CA but I am sure you will find all the answers you need in this part of the forum. http://www.nafex.net/forumdisplay.php?f=34

Your best bet is to go to the CHC website and contact their apprentice folks. Here is the link:

Good luck and enjoy the journey!

Hi Ryan, Happy to see that you made it. The people on this forum are great at answering your questions.
Just to let the group know, I met Ryan over a year ago. I had agreed to sponser him when he was living near me,but now I have some misgivings about being a paper sponser to someone hundreds of miles away. I believe in order to become a good falconer you must be shown how.
SO.......I'm putting in a good word for Ryan, in hopes that someone in Northern Ca. will at least meet him to talk falconry, and maybe take him out when the season starts.

    Default sponsor

    Hello Ryan,

Contact California Fish & Game for a list of sponsors. There is at least one falconer not too far from you, but I am not sure if he is a sponsor. He is a well seasoned falconer and a good one at that. Try calling Cal Fish & Game to see if the can read you names of falconers near you. That's a beautiful area of Northern California you live in. I have spent time there on the Klamath River.

    Talking Thanks

This is great. I never expected this kind of welcome. Thanks Janice for telling me about this.
I acctualy work for CA. Dep. of Fish and Game. At the Salmon Hatchery at IronGate. I have talked to many people and gotten one name of a Falconer in my area but have been unable to reach him. I'm a member of the CHC and talked with Will O'Diear. He doesn't know of any potental sponsers near me. Will himself said he might sponcer me pending our meeting and "how far along I am".
I apperciate all the help. Thanks everyone

Someone just north of the Oregon border from you almost single-handily screwed up the new take of eyas peregrine falcons for the rest of us. Beware of who you hook up with.

    Hey Ryan,
I live down in Chico, about an hour south of Redding. If you are up for a drive in the winter, you are welcome to come along. Good luck in your endeavor!
