    Default Another Hi from SA

Hi, I came over from another forum, just a lack of good info I guess. I live in South Africa, became involved in falconry in '08 and currently flying a miniature rehab female African Goshawk, and having a jol.

    Cheers

    Defenitely!!

I'll put up some pics later tonight, but I just returned from a quick hawking trip, and my Afgos managed to kill a 920g immature guineafowl - a record thus far.

    Cheers

They are indeed. The neighbour's got 2 of them - males. Their favourite pasttime is chasing the Jack Russel round the garden. They can become quite aggressive if not given a female to vent their frustrations lol.

Here are the pics as promised.

This is Cheeky. She is a female African Goshawk, currently flying around the 275g mark. She is a passage rehab bird, was handed in at 6 weeks of age, when she apparently flew into a window.

She has around 40 kills to her name, but I lost count, her main prey being Plover, Swainson's francolin and guineafowl. D i ckybirds and starlings come in slow, although she does catch them from time to time. She also caught one bunny a while back, although not intentionally.
