Default Greetings from ND (soon to be MI)

Greetings;

I am currently in Fargo, ND, but will be relocating to Sault Ste. Marie, MI in August. I have been interested in falconry for many years, but will finally be in a position to seriously consider pursuing this dream. To that end, I am starting to look for contacts and other information, and found myself here.

I have also located the MHC website, although from what I have found on there so far the bulk of the club's activities seem to be in the southern part of the state.

If anyone is in the UP of Michigan, I'd love to hear from them in particular. In the meantime, I look forward to learning as much as I can from this forum.

Welcome soon to be Youper. There are some MHC members up that way, or at least one I am sure of and a few others. While we do most of the activities mid state in the lower part, there is ususally a west side of the state meet as well. I urge you to look into joining the club as it is still the best way to meet other falconers. We do have a biz meeting in April, a summer picnic (not sure of the date yet), an apprentice workshop (usually in the summer, but no date yet on that) and a winter meet as well. Most of these dates will be set at the biz meeting. Up that way it is largely squirrels and hares is my understanding.

Kenn Filkins, who is a NAFEX person lives in that area. He is the Hawk Chalk editor.

Welcome. Lots of good information on this forum. While the UP is beautiful the falconry options there are limited compared to North Dakota. You are leaving a falconry paradise. Probably only a dedicated falconer would view it as a move the "wrong way", though.
