    Default Hello From SE Michigan

Hi everyone, My name is Tim. I am from Canton Michigan. I am not a falconer yet, but am learning as much as I can. I hope to get my test done soon and find a sponsor. Boy, Ill tell ya, it took a while to get some good study material. I finally got pointed in the right direction at the Michigan Hawking Club Picnic. Several folks there recommended the California Club Materials, and they were right. After reading through the Study Guide I can at least understand some of the "Hawk Talk". I have gone to two meets so far and had an absolute blast being a "brush ninja" for the falconers. Who would have known whacking piles of sticks with a broom handle was so much fun. But, I don't think it would be so much fun without the anticipation of a chase or two. I do hunt, mostly pheasants with my hunting buddy Jackson. He is my German Wire Hair.

I also like to dog sled and dirt bike. So hello again, and I hope everyone is having a great season. Take Care and Happy New Year.

    Tim

    Tim:
I are you going to the MHC meet on the 31st of Jan? This is another big event. Hope to see you there if the weather permit. Be sure and say hi. Maybe NAFEX should think of making a patch so we could put it on our jacket

Thanks Bryant, the folks I have met have all been awsome. I have not been around a group of people that were so willing to share what they know. If that is just a taste of the falconry culture, this is going to be a great time. How much snow do you all have up there in Maine? Is there any Dog Sleding where your at? i mean outfitters.

Well, falconry culture varies quite a bit geographically! But you can be glad to be in Michigan, that's for sure.

We don't have much snow at this point in southern Maine. Got a huge dump once, then most of it melted, and now we are getting just a little more. We got over 10 feet last winter, so I think it is safe to say it ain't over yet!

No dog sledding that I know of but I've only been here a year. There is a huge network of trails in the north woods for snowmobiles and I'll bet someone is running dogs too.
