A friend of mine from Tucson took these shots of this redtail near his house. It showed up for the first time last year and again recently this year. He said that a ton of people have come around to take pics. Neat bird.

[smilie=eusa_clap.gif] Now that's a white bird. Thanks for posting that. Can I post that on another forum?

I have seen a few of those white red tails as well. They always seem to have a red tail, or partially red anyway. Great pictures!

I have seen one. It was about 95% white. It had a few black body feathers and a solid DEEP red tail. It was the prettiest bird I have ever seen I guess!

I found one last year. Spookiest bird I've ever seen. You can't get within 1/4 of a mile of it. It was near a place I work sometimes and I had friends that would call me anytime they could see it from the road. They are gorgeous.

What a nice bird! I love seeing random mutations like that; it's certainly interesting! Nice pictures of it, too.

Johnny -- I could swear I saw that bird last time I lived up there, somewhere around '03. Or well, another white hawk, but what are the chances? Was circling over my sister's office; I can't really remember where the office was though. Hmm.

Why do people want white redtails? All they do is attract predators, have weaker feathers and get eaten by feather lice to the point of flightlessness?

You don't like that pic of Eric's Noah?.....she's flying pretty dang well.

I'd love to have one too, then I wouldn't lose sight of her in the squirrel woods hehehehe

I have some pics of a partial white RT that I trapped several years ago, but on closer inspection it was a haggard so I released it. It was turned toward me the whole time way out on a pole in a roadless area...so I figured I'd catch it and determine it's age once I got it in hand. How do you post pics on here?

That one was trapped in late November...didn't have any sign of lice at all. Guess it depends on how bad the parents had them to pass onto the young.

I read once that juveniles will never be white like that. Is that true?

I wouldn't think age would have anything to do with it? I guess we'll just have to keep our eyes peeled for an immy huh? I'll get right on it!! [smilie=eusa_boohoo.gif]
