Welcome to NAFEX, Vivien. I was 13 when I decided I wanted to be a falconer. That was over 35 years ago, and it still brings me great pleasure. Back then, you had to be 16 to get a license in California--I think they have decreased the age requirement since then. Read as much as you can about falconry, there are some great books out there. I imagine the toughest thing in the process is finding a sponsor. Joining the California Hawking Club is a good place to start, if you haven't done so already. As soon as you can, try to convince some falconers in your area to let you go along hawking so you get a clear idea what the sport is all about...it may not be what you expect.
