ANNUAL RENDEZVOUS
MARCH 5 7, 2009
John Moran Hood Exhibit. American falconer and renowned hood-maker John Moran will be with us on Saturday, March 7, 2009 to meet interested falconers and discuss a special exhibit of more than 100 hoods made by him. Moran hoods are famous not only for Johns beautiful handpainted designs but for their fit and quality of construction. These hoods set new standards in the development of what is now referred to internationally as the American Hood. Collectors Dee Nicholson Bianco and Steve Duffy will showcase numerous Moran hoods from their own collections and several other falconers have indicated their intent to bring still more to add to the display. With owners present, viewers can expect some up-close and personal views of what is truly falconry art! This exhibit the first of its kind will be a great opportunity to see these hoods and meet their famous maker. The exhibit will be on Saturday only from 9 a.m. to 5 PM.
Remembrance Memorial. At 3 PM, Saturday, a special Wall of Remembrance installation will be held for the five falconers to be honored this year: Frank L. Beebe, Kent Christopher, Clyde P. Matteson, Todd N. Montgomery and Tony Robertson.
Saturday Night Dinner. On Saturday evening, an optional dinner will be held at a local Mexican restaurant: estimated cost $12 per person (tax and tip included). Beverages hosted by Kent Carnie.
Appraisals. Falconry book specialist Barrie Watson will be at the Archives to appraise donations already made and will be available to unofficially discuss the value of any falconry-related materials visitors are interested in valuing.
Conservation Projects. If you are interested in helping with Archives conservation work, well have projects available on Thursday and Friday. To coordinate these projects we need to know if you will be with us to help.
No Critters. In accordance with World Center for Birds of Prey biosecurity requirements, NO birds, dogs or other animals are allowed on our property, including the Archives and public parking areas.
R.S.V.P. It is important for us to know if you plan to attend, if you can help us on conservation projects, and if you will be joining us for dinner Saturday night. Please contact David Wells, Archives Administrator at taf@peregrinefund.org or (208) 362-8256.
