She "flew" from New York to Minnesota, doesnt that make her a passage bird? Ok, probably not, but here she is: http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa156/outhawkn/Dsc01279.jpg

15 days old and home 15 minutes. And look at that pretty face!

Her name is Nyla (inuit for tastes like chicken) not really, it means The Smiling One.

Thanks, she is wearing her supper, but managed to get some in her crop also.
As for a log. No Sir! Your doing great! Well...actually I broke out the Canon HX and am going to film the whole thing. If all turns out I will take it from the first day, lure training, kite training, and finish off with a stoop on wild game that makes all gyr/sakers hang their heads in shame, OR NOT. In which case I will through it away! [smilie=dontknow.gif]

Ya, I feel like a kid in a candy store! I told my wife that since I got a new falocn I HAD to have a new puppy. I tried blaming that one on Noah too. [smilie=smileys13.gif] But my wife didnt fall for it. So she decided it was her turn for a new puppy. I relunctently(sp) agreed. She decided on a Brittany. I hope your wife enjoys "her" Brittany pup. I've seen some that made me think I should get one for my wife too. Might be a good anniversary present or something.

I have a question. What does a Gyr/Saker fly like? Is there another bird that it can be compared to so that I can get an idea? I've seen male and female Gyr, Gyr/Peregrine and Gyr/Barbary fly, and I flew a female Saker to the lure for a few months at work, but I've never seen a Gyr/Saker fly.

Chris, Once they get the hang of the bottle. You cant hardly get them to leave it alone long enough to change it. I keep several in the freezer as well as 1 gallon milk jugs filled with water and frozen. Anything with gyr in it or even the Goshawks I've had like them jugs!

The tennis ball is just a play toy. There is also an empty pill bottle and a dead quail, and sometimes the lure(the bright orange dog training dummy). She "kills" the toys a jillion times a day. Gives her something to do and lets her practice footing.

I stopped keeping food available all night. And give her time to cast in the mornings. So its about 8:00 or so by the time I feed. When I walk in the room she peeps a little, but gets more vocal as I put the kite on the fan and give it a spin. After watching the kite until it stops she looks down and realizes food has arrived, is a little vocal. After chow she peeps til I let her out of her tank while cleaning. Then back in the tank, and nap time.

An update on the gyr/saker. Went to a boat show last week. calculated the time and decided the wife and I could go to Duluth and see the boats. . I knew perfectly well that I shouldnt go and when she asked if it would be alright I said sure...(lier,lier,pants on fire)! I knew perfectly well I shouldnt go. The trip took longer than i expected, and when I got home and walked in she was screaming her head off. So now I have an imprint that sits the fist well, hoods great, and screams everytime i walk into the room. Dang it!

Chris L Yes she is setting on one of your blocks. The power coated one. I like them, havent had any trouble yet. And dont really expect to. Plus, I think she just looks BETTER on one of your blocks> [smilie=banana.gif]

Bill great to hear they are working out. She looks great. Let me know how the powder coating holds up this season. I am interested to see how it does...

You think SHE looks better, you should see Chris perched on one of his blocks [smilie=icon_pray.gif]

Shaun, GOT YA!
She is at 50 oz's right now and comes to the lure immediately. Am also letting her take bait of the kite line here in the yard. She is so obediant I dont think I will have to drop her weight much. If I do maybe not more than an ounce or two. (knock on wood).

Sitting on the new pole perch, built it and filmed it. She is sitting at 49 oz's and responds well to the lure and grabs the bait from the kite. Not flying free though, its so hot I've been putting that off.

Listen..can you hear that? Thats right she isnt making any noise!! Yeah! [smilie=banana.gif]

She was getting to be a terrible screamer, and I was thinking about shipping her off to parts unknown. But decided to try something different. I bought really good ear-plugs and brought her in the house. i fed her every two hours day and night. That sucks btw, but today (day 3) she isnt making any noise at all. Tomorrow I will reduce the feeding to 4-5 big meals and go from there.

Glad to hear she is quieting down! I wish I could use the earplug option but my family is too big to deal with it [smilie=BangHead.gif]
Goose has been getting a little quieter though, he seems to be getting into the routine.

Yeah Bill. Thanks for the tip - will probably come in handy some day. Nice perch. Is that a reef tank behind it?
