New sketch.

I was inspired by a pose that I saw via wikipedia, by way of Archibald Thornburn, I'm sure most have seen the original.

Here's my take on it:

If you've seen any of my other stuff, you'll know how tough it was for me to keep it simple and stylized. Done with pen and markers on letter size paper, i.e. nothing special.

I like your style Jeff. Cool portrayal. What media did you use? Just pens and markers?

I like to work in pastels mostly when doing BOPs. The dusty chalk seems to lend itself to the dusty feathers.

I will go with the classic " I was in the moment" answer to that one. I guess the toes that is curled back didn't register with my brain and I just kept going.

That's reminiscent of me asking my father how many toes a red-tail has. He began bird watching, photography, and oological pursuits when he was about ten. Yet at age 70 he could not tell me with certainty the answer to that question. I had to show him my bird.

Jeff, as usual, very nice. and you know that i am a sucker for a Goshawk. i picked up on the extra toe and you beat me to it. to me it looks almost comic book character like, if that makes sense. either way, i like it. i have a couple of Jeff's pieces and can assure you all that if any of you were to buy one, it would be just as impressive, if not more so, in person than what your able to take from it on the web.
