Hey Everybody,
A friend of mine just lost a late passage hen Harris due to a swivel failure at 630 pm on July 10th. She was trapped last Monday in AZ, and was just starting to respond to training. She caught a thermal in Upland, Ca and was heading South. She has black anklets and orange dacron jesses if they are still attached. Her band number is R0116403. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Late passage? Interesting I didn't know the term late passage was used often. Did she have some adult feathers when trapped?

I trapped a late passage male this year but he is up for the molt.

I'm surprised "passage" is used at all for Harris's as they are non-migratory. I usually refer to them as juvies.

Good luck finding your bird, Mike. When I lost mine last year I'd had her for a month. She was found by a church pastor only a mile away 4 days after I lost her. Unfortunately she was dead under a transformer.... Chances are yours won't go too far as long as there's game nearby and no big windy storms. Hopefully she won't be trap shy. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Thanks for posting this Mike. She was found by a home-owner in the mountains north of where she was last observed soaring. She was hung up in a pine tree by the swivel. Aside from that she is in great shape and just finished eating 3 mice on the fist. Thanks again Mike. I am going to create a thread for her as soon as I get some time to upload the pics.

Harry,
I also trapped a tiercel, and both birds have mostly adult plummage with some juvenile feathering. Both birds are coming along nicely. Looking forward to flying a passage Harris.
