Well, I lost my first bird Tazer last year due to a severe untreatable eye infection. It was discouraging to say the least. After speaking with my sponsor, I decided to not trap and keep another bird through the molt, but to learn more about diseases and avian health. The vet said it could've been a scratch from the bird himself, a branch, etc. It bummed me out but didn't put me out. Trapped a large 1200g female redtail this past weekend. Manning her right now. Already jumping to the fist from 5 feet. I'm looking forward to getting back out in the field. I do believe the loss of Tazer caused me to be a more knowledgeable Apprentice and a better falconer.
