Well, I lost my first bird Tazer last year due to a severe untreatable eye infection. It was discouraging to say the least. After speaking with my sponsor, I decided to not trap and keep another bird through the molt, but to learn more about diseases and avian health. The vet said it could've been a scratch from the bird himself, a branch, etc. It bummed me out but didn't put me out. Trapped a large 1200g female redtail this past weekend. Manning her right now. Already jumping to the fist from 5 feet. I'm looking forward to getting back out in the field. I do believe the loss of Tazer caused me to be a more knowledgeable Apprentice and a better falconer. Thanks! JUST saw that I had a visitor message. Appreciate the input and WILL keep this in mind. Right now, seems Bob is back on an even keel again so appears it was an inner ear problem. If it happens again, I'll ask specifically about MERSA. Appreciate your input!
Deb, just a note. If the inner ear infection thing keeps reoccurring, have them run a culture. MERSA is becoming a more prevalent problem in ears.
Hi Deb, I think I'm in so hopefully I'll stay in NAFEX. Wish me luck. Kris Downing

Hi Deb, A quick question for you. I see that you scored a 95% on the test (which is outstanding). What were your study materials? The California study guide is what most everyone on the forum says focus on. I have yet to hear anything from the state regarding my application. I believe Gary held onto my paperwork and didn't forward it on for a few weeks. I called him last week and he said he still had it! You've seen my posting about my mews being built. It's exciting to see progress in that area. But I'm stressing out a little regarding THE TEST. Hope you and your husband are well, and I am going to get down there one of these days and invite myself over. Paul
