Why would he photo shop the anklets/jesses out? Great photos, I suppose they would sell better to the masses without a falconry connection, but takes a bit away from the whole thing for me.

Just talked to Conrad. He is not opposed to posting pictures of the birds with the anklets and jesses as well as the same pictures with the jesses removed. Conrad is a photographer, not a falconer. He is on FredMiranda.com and the pictures they post of the birds are without the equipment on them.
Hawked many days with Conrad and can say that he toughed it out in some extreme cold on top of bringing out some expensive gear in the field. Great guy....

He shoots a Canon 1dx with a 600mm f5.6l lens, sometimes he uses a 300mm f2.8l for the falconry shots. pricey equipment.

Most of the shots he took were with the 300mm lens. He trudged through the snow almost every day with us.
Yeah I imagine the 300 would be more manageable in the field. They are amazing shots that's for sure. The snow and sky make for amazing composition.
