The hunting is great anound Questa. I've never hunted it but I have friends from there that do well with Elk, Deer, Turkey, Bear ect...... I can get more info about the fishing. Again I haven't been but I know plenty of people who have.

Thanks for the info. I have not been there in years. I plan on going back this spring. When I do, I will hit the river and see how things are.
Tony. I lived in Questa for about a year, plenty of Elk and I caught trout, mostly in the mountains and some in the Rio Grande. I didn't see a whole lot of small game, I spent my time looking for obsidian arrow heads, and hunting reptiles.
Here's a random photo for ya:

Tower Rock Island, on the Mississippi River. I'm on top of a cliff (foothill, rather) at a look-out point. I love this area. 16 miles from my house.
Thanks for the info. Last time I was there we camped out by Red River and fished, but due to time and wife who would not hike, I did not get out to do any real looking around. Looking at google, I see some very interesting areas to herp around there by the river. I have not done any real herping in the last 5 or so years. I miss it.
My tiercel anatum on a hen gadwall yesterday. Sunday is the close of duck season, so we're trying to get out and hunt before it's too late. Shazam hit this one to the ground, I think just clipping her wing, she got right back up and was hightailing out of there and Shazam took her in long pumping stoop after his throw up.

My friends tiercel anatum/tundrius on a different hen gadwall. This bird is 8 years old and deadly, he smacked this one and it tumbled through the air and righted itself only to be caught in a tail chase a 1/4 mile out.

What is the flying wt. of your Rt?
Hi Paul, that tundra/anatum tiercel looks like it is standing on a drake gad. Beautiful photo. Gadwalls are made for tiercels.
Is that a tiercel that Bruce made?

I have seen a bazillion RT pics and a bazillion RT alive in the field. They never get old or boring. A RT is just plain old good looking. Always will be. Nice pics.

All the best
Great stuff Scott. You guys sure put the hurt on Game up there. How about a story with to go with the goose. Spoke with MF today. 6 ducks in the bag with the longwings this weekend. Not to shabby!
This was Thursday of last week. This jack was at full speed by the time I took this picture. It suddenly put on the brakes skidding to a full stop with the HH going right over its head. Then the jack did a 180 turn and out ran the HH. Great jack chase.
