"Liberty" The female sore hawk coop trapped on 4th of July in my backyard early in the morning in my robe...haha. She's doing awesome!
Her first wild kill was a young quail several weeks ago and she is now taking pigeon, starling and cowbirds. She rides freelofted in the car on the passenger headrest and sometimes hops to my headrest for a love nibble on my ear.

This guy has been hanging around the pigeon loft and game bird pens the past few days, stupid tame, I was 20 feet from him when I took this. Rewarded him with an easy common pigeon.

Tail of the first bird I caught trapping this year. A local male about 1000 grams, named him Rob Zombie sometime in July, sporting some tail bling.

Awesome Austin! I didn't think you'd have that many pheasants down there. Can you describe the flights and setups she's successful in? Getting any bunny flights? You don't have snow? We got 6 inches Saturday. I'd like to see her fly sometime. Keep it up, Ross
Wow!!! To repeat the others, what are the flights, set ups, etc. like? You obviously spent a lot thought and action getting to this point. I enjoyed the posts of your raising and training of her. Then it went kinda silent and I often wondered how it was going. Now we know! Will be interesting as winter moves in as they are very cold hardy birds and the winter pheasants should motivate her big time, as they already are. Way to go.

Those are really great and clear photos. Beautiful bird.
Awesome action shot!!
Jim, you are a true artist. Man it does not get any better than that. Thanks for sharing.
Not only a great pic, but aplomado on a bunny? Too cool.
Mike
Some of us have been lucky enough to see the tail chases this Aplomado does on bunnies. She is very fast and when she misses she gets up and stays on the bunny until it either is caught or makes the hole. Its not unusual for her to makes 5 or 6 attempts during the chase. She had this bunny turning every way it could and it wasn't that close to me. I was using a 300mm lens and this picture is cropped a lot. She is fun to watch.
