Thread: Canadian Falconry fair?

    Default Canadian Falconry fair?

this is just idle thought really that has been going round in my mind the fact that the UK Falconry fair has just been on. how many wopuld be interested in going to an event like this in July in Southern Sask (NOT this year as it is just an embryonic thought at the moment)neighbouring Montana and North Dakota and with easy access from Mineapolis, Seatle, Chicago, etc it would be a fun visit for Northamerican falconers? bear in mind this would be off season, but we could have flying displays, kite trials, husbandry and equipment making workshops. what do folks think?

I'd like to have something like that around just not sure how many would show.

It's a great idea. But make it so the people with eyas birds and folks in the middle of breeding season can get there.

Would it be a falconer event or open to the general public?

I've been to the British one three times and the general public attends so falconers and displays are probably a bit conservative. Still it's a wonderful time and even after over ten years as a falconer I still enjoy watching the lure flying displays.

Be sure you get Mr. Terry Large to come over to do some flying displays - he's a hoot and his birds are spectacular.

Oh, and sign me up for a booth, okay? Thanks!

Jay - Just had another thought.

Why not make it the North American Continental Falconer Fair? Get all three countries involved - Canada, US & Mexico.

    Keep us posted!

Now that would be a good reason for me to come over the pond. Even more now, as I could not make it to Ken's hoodmaking workshop.

I could nearly guarantee that International Falconer Magazine would be there!

Sorry i seem to have missed replys so apologies, thing is I am real busy now at the moment ( Donna I was alaways thinking of USA as well, esp the fact that we are so close to the U S border, although I must admit I had not thought too much about Mexico because of travel distance. with regard to International Falconer I was going to talk to Seth anyway ) I will be looking into this isn much greater detail , backers etc as the event needs to be a truly proffessionally run , as we will be promoting falconry at its very best.
    all the best,
    Jay
