I thought I'd post some pictures that the wife took with her new camera. I still need to get her a better lense but not bad for only having it for a few days.

Chris your shooting with a Cannon Rebel right? What power lense are you using and what pixel do you have. The wife and I have a Nikon D50( 6.1 mega pixel) with a 18-55mm kit lense. I'm just trying to figure which lense (200 or 300mm) would be the best for taking hawking pics.

I am using a Rebel xt silver ( 650d).. it is 8.1 Mega pixels, I have 2 lenses for it one is a 70 mm and the other is a 300 mm. The 300 gets out there pretty good but I am going to buy the 400mm. That should be plenty. The 400 is a bit more pricey than the 300MM, don't be shocked when you see the prices on them.

The 300 has done a great job, make sure it has the macro function on the 300 so you can take crazy close ups.

I love taking pictures with it. The best part is no developing the pics.. you will find you just snap away. That is a great camera she got.. I know you all will enjoy it

I fly her around 1030grams and I trapped her around 1250(on the trim side). I have flown her as high a 1090 in Tx on Jacks but, I hunt in a few public parks here and if I don't keep her attention she seems to get real spooky around people that aren't in the hawking party. For example you and I where hunting together and she saw you with me after I struck the hood she is fine. If you just walked up to us while I was hunting by myself or with someone else, she would flake off. That is the the only real problem I have with her that I don't really care for. She will flake off even if she is locked on to a squirrel. I hope that next year wil be better and I can fly her a little heavier. As far as talons and beak copeing I have not had to do a thing. I house her in the house most of the time on a ring perch that sits on those puzzle piece type dense foam mats. When she is out weathering se had those mats placed in the areas she jumps most of the time. Those talons being sharp and that female grip sure helps out with the squirrels. She really dosen't even need my help killing them but I do it anyways. -Zach

Those are awesome!!!!!! I have a decent camera too, but I am just horrible at taking it out and getting some pics. I enjoy looking at them though!!!!! I don't have good software, so the pics don't look so sharp here on the web and with dial up, I have to shrink them down. Full screen though, it is amazing what heven a $400 digital can do now!!!

Yeah, I left them in your truck. It is my 300mm lens and some other camera stuff [smilie=BangHead.gif].
